Silk Screen vs. Pad Printing for Custom Balloons

Author: AIHUA SEO

Direct answer: when a balloon quotation says silk screen, screen printing or pad printing, do not choose by the label alone. Compare the identified balloon, proposed process, artwork version, print colors/passes, side and position scope, target inflated diameter, approved sample, QC endpoint and packing record.

Boundary: this page explains how to verify a supplier proposal. It does not promise that AIHUA can use either method for every design, nor does it promise a universal color count, two-side scope, print area, photographic effect, MOQ or lead time.

What the two labels mean

Silk screen and screen printing refer to a screen-based ink-transfer process. Pad printing refers to transfer from a prepared plate through a pad. Those basic descriptions are useful for identifying what a supplier has quoted, but they do not by themselves prove detail, cost, color, registration, durability or suitability for a particular inflated balloon.

For the wider process and QC framework, start with AIHUA's printing-on-balloons method and quality-control guide. This page focuses only on how to compare quotations that use the two method names.

Evidence that should travel with either proposal

  • quotation line connecting product, method, artwork version and quantity;
  • requested colors or passes, base balloon color and contrast decision;
  • one/two-side scope, orientation, print area and position reference;
  • identified sample inflated to the recorded target diameter;
  • approval images at close and normal viewing distance;
  • registration, coverage, visible distortion and drying/rub endpoint;
  • packing separation, bag label, SKU and carton-mark reference;
  • dated approval status and the person or party authorizing production.

Claims that require a sample instead of a public promise

Do not treat fine detail, gradient, photograph, exact color, perfect registration, very small order, unlimited print area or fixed schedule as proven because a method name appears on a website. Ask the supplier to state what is feasible for the current artwork and to show the result on the identified balloon. If the supplier changes method, artwork, balloon finish, target diameter, colors or side scope, the approval should be reviewed again.

AIHUA route and commercial boundary

AIHUA's operating MOQ for printed balloons is 50,000 pieces per design. Custom packaging usually starts from USD 10,000, and samples are handled case by case. These are order-entry boundaries, not proof that a requested method or effect is feasible.

Use the custom printed latex balloons commercial page for a quotation. Use the print-position and sample-proof checklist and the ink-rub and drying checklist to define acceptance. Send the current artwork and order fields through AIHUA contact.

Buyer FAQ

Is silk screen the same as screen printing?

The terms are commonly used for a screen-based transfer process. The supplier should still state the exact proposed process and connect it to the quotation and sample record.

Is pad printing always better for detailed artwork?

No universal conclusion should be made from the method label. Ask the supplier to demonstrate the requested detail, colors, target diameter, side/position and acceptance endpoint on the identified sample.

Can a buyer choose the method before the supplier reviews artwork?

The buyer can state a preference, but final feasibility should follow review of the actual artwork, balloon specification, quantity, colors, side scope, target diameter and required result.

Does either method guarantee full-color photo printing?

No. A method name does not guarantee a photograph, gradient or color count. Require a current feasibility decision and an approved sample instead of relying on a public claim.

What should be sent for an AIHUA printed-balloon quotation?

Send the balloon size/finish/base color, artwork file and authorization, quantity, requested colors, side and position scope, target diameter, packing, destination market and the acceptance result that matters.
